| Swati Sahasrabudhe is Professor and Head of the Department of Landscape Architecture at BNCA, Dr. Bhanuben Nanawati College of Architecture for Women (MKSSS, Pune), and the Founder-Principal of LIFE–Landscape Initiatives for Future Environment. Her work sits at the confluence of design thinking, ecology, future-orientated human values, and cultural narratives. This year, she was honoured with the IIA (Indian Institute of Architects) Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Landscape design is not about creating spaces but about cultivating belonging between people, nature, and the values that hold them together.
As I look back on my journey as a mid-career woman, an architect, a landscape architect, and an academic, I see a terrain shaped by curiosity, conviction, and empathy. Design, for me, has never been confined to surfaces or structures; it has always been about creating harmony between people and place, nature and culture, intellect, and emotion.
