BEING ONE WITH NATURE
THE OBEROI VINDHYAVILAS WILDLIFE RESORT, BANDHAVGARH, MADHYA PRADESH
IPDM Services (INDIA) Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi

The resort is set across 25 acres and features 19 luxury tents and an executive suite, along with a public building housing a library, bar, all-day dining restaurant, and a wellness spa. Inspired by the philosophy of “being one with nature”, the resort is designed to offer an immersive stay rooted in sustainability and environmental stewardship.
The landscape in this project serves two key ecological purposes: to channel rainwater from the rear outside areas through the site toward the north culvert and to rewild and restore the land with native forest trees and grasses, while also ensuring the open spaces function well at various levels—private, semi-private, and public.
Agricultural activity over the years has removed much of the original vegetation, leaving the soil exposed and accelerating land degradation. The design approach has focused on merging the site seamlessly with its natural surroundings. Native forest species such as,Madhuca longifolia (mahua), Terminalia arjuna (arjun), and Ficus bengalensis (banyan) are reintroduced to revitalise the land and rebuild its ecological structure. Additional supportive species like Terminalia catappa (Indian almond) and Neolamarckia cadamba (kadamb) are also planted to enhance biodiversity and strengthen the long-term restoration process.
