BLUE TEMPLE
THE PRACTICE
Raphaël Ascoliel
LA80
During a time of civil war, our architectural design practice ‘Blue Temple’ and bamboo construction company ‘Housing NOW’ focus on the implementation of hyper-contextual projects. These projects, such as our latest low-cost housing units for displaced communities, are designed around the availability of labor and the abundance of construction material on the local market.

Our design strategy is holistic, going from material sourcing, logistics, labor recruitment, community engagement, funding, and more; to finding ways to respond to hyper-specific needs in hyper-specific ways. The political, economic, and social landscape are factors that our projects address and are influenced by. Even though the design wouldn’t be exportable internationally, the design methodology could be replicated.
