The photo essay aspires to move beyond mere archeological documentation. It attempts to create a form of visual narrative capable of eliciting emotion through images and texts. This integration of text and images is motivated by the exploration of “inscapes” of the archeological sites of Ratnagiri and Lalitagiri, to excavate their reflective and emotional depths. The accompanying reflective captions act as introspective bridges, linking the visual experience of the historic sites along with their “inscapes.” This task involves reflection, a complicated process of navigating through the personal connections and emotional reflections to the objects or sites one encounters. The accompanying concise explanations aim to enhance the visual narrative, connecting specific photographs with the viewer’s internal journey, thus translating the silent language of ruins into a meditative process.
