On February 09, LA Journal completes two decades of its fascinating journey. The profession of landscape architecture in the country is now more formalized, widespread, and diversified. In the past five decades, it has played a crucial role in the story of urban development in India. With just two postgraduate programs, academia has expanded to include many more. From a commune of less than four hundred landscape architects at the time of the release of the Journal, it has now grown to become a vibrant community of around a thousand spread all across the country. As the profession and the world around have changed, so has the Journal. From its first edition of only 8 pages, it has now expanded to be 75 pages or more. Over time, the journal has encouraged many viewpoints on various aspects of the discipline of landscape architecture. The Journal has nudged, encouraged, inspired, and provoked its readers in many ways. It will be presumptuous to assume its role as anything more than this.

LA Journal is one of the most significant factors in our lives that have shaped us. On the occasion of completing two decades of its journey, we look back for some philosophical learning, as under.
Change

Along with the growth and evolution of the Journal, we have also changed and grown. When we observe the changing world around us, we realize that we have changed ourselves. The presence of Tanvi, our daughter, the most explicit testimony of change, just two years younger than the Journal, has a crucial role to play in our getting this awareness.
