With the passing away of Anupam Mishra, the year 2016 closed on a sad note. Holistic development discourse in the country lost a powerful voice. An erudite environmentalist, thinker and writer, he had a deep faith in the role of rural communities in the development of our country. The rural realm remains an inseparable part of any discussion or debate about future times of our nation. With the paucity of intellectuals and professionals working in rural areas across India as compared to urban regions, his various works especially in the area of water harvesting in the state of Rajasthan attain a special significance. The Journal pays a tribute to the respected senior.

During the stimulating journey of its fifty issues, the flow of knowledge of this Journal has been formed by the professional fraternity as well as our authors and contributors who have most generously shared their views, ideas, experiences and projects. The success of our endeavour has been made possible by the continuing support of subscribers and our friends from landscape industry from the first day itself. At the release of this special issue #50, we would like to thank all of you for being there with us.

The views of Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, a musician and Ranjit Lal, a naturalist and ornithologist, find an easy likeness with us designers, who are constantly engaged in improving the character of our art and grappling with the issues of identity, regionalism, respecting context, urbanization and living with nature. Their compositions, writings and art have a strong experiential qualities achieved by imagination, insightful mind and experience. The boundaries in the disciplines are thus blurred by a common creative language.
